the X-files #18 pag. 18 Charles Adlard

Many of the presented art are "partially" unpublished! Why?  this is the story: Charles Adlard made as usual his own work for the regular comic book serie and the results were - as usual - pretty good! He had always a particular "underground" look style which was perfectly adequated to the serial backgrounds (aliens-spies-cospiracy-mistery-thrilling-secrets), but for unknow reasons Topps comics decided to make some changes and adjustaments to the penciled arts. As result of this, Gordon Purcell re-drawned almost all the "faces" of Mulder and Scully, trying to make them more similar to the original actors looks, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. After this story-cicle, Adlard - which brought the serie to the top-selling comic charts, quitted and was substituted by Alex Saviuk, who did anyway a good work but I think...too mutch.."conventional".

I don't know if this was a "good" choise and I do not judge the final result of Gordon  or Alex works, or the Topps policy! All I can say is that the comic version lost a lot of his "charme" - for me- and that .. you can see the differences only here in this site.......for the very first time in the world and in the comic history, ladies and gentlemen, you can see the ORIGINAL art version......only here!
